Let’s also talk about ceramic because the introduction of Seamasters really shows the brand’s continued interest in the material. Credit the relatively short lugs and the black cases for this. I tried on the pieces from the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black collection and despite their listed sizes, they were smaller – although not slimmer – on my wrist. The all black version is probably the most versatile of the pieces as it blends sport with a tough more formality.Īll watches, though, feature the amazing dial details – some of which you can see above. I really liked the colorful internal bezels on these models. The non-Sedna pieces within the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black collection are attractive in their own right, but certainly in the case of the blue and red versions, are extremely sporty. The massive gold crown, along with the gold bezel, juxtaposed against the black case is truly fetching. I don’t tend towards gold, but I found the Sedna piece gorgeous and very, very classy. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black watches are sublimely finished and, as mentioned earlier, are filled with beautifully executed details. Plus, the blue and red versions But, after spending what was a glorious couple weeks with the Grey Side of the Moon, I knew that I’d likely walk away impressed after seeing the watches live. They’re big at roughly 44.5mm in diameter (see it compared to the 39mm Ed White above), thick at roughly 17.5mm, and expensive with pricing on the all-black versions at roughly 10,000 Euros and the Sedna piece at over 13,000. I wasn’t sure what to think of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black after seeing it debut online in June of this year. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black is Full of Detail I think I emerged with just enough shots to give you an idea of how the new collection looks and while providing a couple macros of the wonderful dial detail that features niceties such as an applied logo, the inscribed “ZrO2” on the dial, and the fantastic numeric hour indices. It was a really friendly experience at the boutique and Anja and the team basically gave me full run of the upper floor to position the new models wherever and however in order to try and battle the bright and difficult lights of a boutique. Then, we simply chatted for a while before the new Seamasters were brought to the table. Then, after, offering an ice cold beverage – Frankfurt was smoldering that day- Anja brought over the Moonwatch Only book and we checked out some details on the Ed White. As a watch lover herself, Anja immediately scoped out my wrist and noticed my Ed White Speedmaster. While my pictures won’t get you any closer to those shown in our original article, they’ll provide you with yet another look before the watches officially hit shops around some time in October.įirst off, when I viewed the new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black collection, I was warmly welcomed into the Omega Frankfurt Boutique by the store manager, Anja Vielhaber. I was of similar opinion, so when I found out that the collection was on a roadshow across the European Omega boutiques, I jumped at the chance to see them in Frankfurt. We received a lot of traffic on the article and while most found the watches attractive, most wanted to see them in the metal – umm, ceramic as it were – before rendering judgment. The watches are an interesting move from Omega as they were introduced outside of Basel and the debut actually occurred in New York. A couple of months ago, Robert-Jan had the opportunity to give an overview of the new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black collection.
